Dr. Allen has been practicing in the Charlotte area since 1999. He grew up in cities in both North and South Carolina, and enjoys spending time with his wife, Shawna and their two daughters when he isn’t working.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Allen completed his training in orthodontics with a Post-Doctoral Masters of Science in Craniofacial Anomalies and Distraction Osteogenesis with the Oral Surgery and Plastic Surgery department at the University of Texas. Following his two-year residency, he also received highly specialized training at Roth Williams International where he completed coursework in functional Inclusion.
Dr. Allen firmly believes that you never stop learning, and continues to further his knowledge in the field of orthodontics through his participation in a variety of continuing education programs. For the last two years, he has participated in an ongoing continuing education program through Spear Education. This specialized training involves courses in facially generated treatment planning, as well as interdisciplinary treatment planning. Annually, Dr. Allen attends Arnett's Orthodontics and Orthognathic Surgery seminar on facial reconstruction, basic concepts of care, treatment planning, and successful orthodontics and surgical techniques led by renowned expert, Dr. G. William Arnett. Dr. Allen is constantly working to be on the cutting edge of current orthodontic techniques. He is dedicated to providing his patients with the best possible care and continues to take numerous advanced courses in orthodontics, facial esthetics, surgical orthodontics, interceptive child treatment protocols, teen braces and Invisalign for both adults and teens.
Area dentists and specialists in both Mecklenburg and Iredell counties have recognized Dr. Allen’s expertise and experience every year since 2007 by nominating him as a “Top Dentist” in Charlotte Magazine’s Top Dentists issue.
